Shosuro Ohba and effects

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Shosuro Ohba: Scorpion Clan Ninja: Ohba has +1F for each Poison token in the current enemy army.

If someone has 3 poison tokens on him and he is facing ohba in battle does ohba lose his +3f bonus for the poison tokens and his printed force if another effect sets Ohba'ss force to 0? or is it just Ohba's printed force value that gets put to 0 leaving him with just his +3f poison token bonus?

When an action sets someone's force to a value, all bonuses and penalties are included in that calculation, including bonuses and penalties from traits, tokens and actions.

Shosuro Ohba's Force would be reduced to 0.

If you add another poison token after ohba's force is reduced to 0 would you gain a +1F bonus for each new token placed after the reduction? also If you play a card's action such as "crushing strength" to add a +3f to current personality would that work?

Yes and yes.

Per Setting stats to a value, when Ohba's Force is set to 0, he is given "the smallest possible appropriate penalty such that it reaches that value". In your example, Ohba has a base Force of 2 and there are 3 Poison tokens in the current enemy army so his current Force is 5 and the appropriate penalty to set it to 0 is -5F. To set a stat to zero does not mean that its value will remain zero until the turn ends, whatever new bonuses are given; it just means that the stat's value falls to zero due to an appropriate penalty.

If there is a new Poison token in the current enemy army, his trait increases his Force. Per Calculating stats, its value becomes : 2 (base Force) + 4 (trait) - 5 (penalty) = 1. The Force bonus from Crushing Strength would apply too: 2 (base Force) + 3 (trait) - 5 (penalty) + 3 (Crushing Strength) = 3.

I'd also like to point out that there is a FAQ entry about just this point: http://rules.l5r.com/CE_FAQ#When_stats_ ... applied.3F

Because I never tire of saying:
