March Beyond Hope move performing commander

L5R CCG Rules board, 2 June 2010 to 15 October 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

can I move into battle my unbowed commander (unasigned or unbowed in other way) using March Beyond Hope when I have no units in battle ?

March Beyond Hope Battle: Target your unbowed Commander: Move a target Personality in your home to the current battlefield, even if he was in an attacking army at a battlefield during its battle's resolution. If he moved, straighten his unit. After this battle ends, destroy him.

Yes. Assuming your unbowed performing Commander is in your home, you can target him for the effect of March Beyond Hope, as indicated by the exceptions to the rules of Presence and Location.

If you mean move a bowed Commander from home to the current battlefield, yes. Nothing on March Beyond Hope prevents it. (Are you thinking of the really old "Can't target your own cards with actions" rule? If so, we got rid of that years ago.)

If you meant something else... well, you'll have to clarify.

The question stated that there were no units at the current battlefield, so moving a commander OTHER than the performing one wouldn't work. The rule of location would require that the performing commander needs to get to battlefield by the end of the action.

If the performing Commander is at home, the only legal target is, indeed, himself.
