Furumaro and Sieden Sanzo

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Ok, the link above is a ruling that is very close to answering my question, but just doesnt quite...

My question is, can Furumaro use his Reaction in the action phase after Sieden sanzo targets and resolves on him? Or does he HAVE to use his reaction at the point of his actual destruction occuring?

My belief is yes he can, although im told that he has to react at the beginning of the dynasty phase, when he might be bowed from battle resolution for example.

Please can you clarify?

Furumaro: Reaction: Before an action destroys Furumaro: Negate his destruction.

Seiden sanzo: Limited: Target a Personality you own and control. Give him Cavalry and +3F. Destroy him after your next Dynasty Phase begins.

Thanks for your time.

(C)an Furumaro use his Reaction in the action phase after Sieden sanzo targets and resolves on him? Or does he HAVE to use his reaction at the point of his actual destruction occuring?

The Reaction can only be taken when the destruction actually tries to occur, as per card text. There is no option in when it is legal to respond to a trigger.

Note, though, that a Reaction never has to be taken. Just clarifying that, in case someone thought the phrasing of the question meant that the Reaction always had to be used.
