chagatai's armour and moutains of the phoenix

L5R CCG Rules board, 4 May 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 4 May 2010

chagatai's armour reads Reaction: Before the resolution of another player's action: Negate either the bowing, destruction, or movement of this Personality from the action's effects.

Moutains of the phoenix reads Battle: Before this battle’s resolution, the Attacker and the Defender each choose a unit in their own army; the active player decides who chooses first. Then, destroy the chosen units.

If chagatai's armour is bowed (and therefore can't react) when I play mountains of the phoenix, but afterward becomes unbowed. Can it still react to its personalities destruction before the battles resolution?

Could you post the steps as well please?

Thanks for your time.

Sorry, no.

Sorry, no.

Ha! Just kidding.

1. MotP is announced. 2. It enters play as a Rulebook effect. 3. Before its resolution, this is the trigger for Chagatai's Armor's Reaction. It's bowed, you can't react. 4. MotP begins resolving. 5. Its delayed effect, triggered for "Before this battle's resolution" is activated. 6. It finishes resolving. 7. Later on, before the battle's resolution, the delayed effect is triggered. This is not a valid trigger for Chagatai's Armor.

Have a nice day.
