In Aikune's Name vs Deflection

L5R CCG Rules board, 3 May 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 3 May 2010

First the Card Text:

Deflection:

Reaction: When another player's action would target one of your Personalities: Choose another one of your Personalities at the same location. The action targets him instead, if legal.

In Aikune's Name

Battle: Destroy this Shugenja: Destroy two target cards without attachments in the enemy army.

Can Deflection protect against something that targets multiple personalitys (burn the village is another example) or is the pural targeting an invalid trigger for it?

Yes, Deflection may be played in response to In Aikune's Name or other such cards with multiple targeting.

Deflection is not looking for exactly or only one target in order to trigger.

Numbers of things: "If the presence of an exact number of things is being checked for, this will be noted by language such as "exactly two" or "only one," or by mentioning two or more specific numbers such as “zero or one.”"
