The Badgers Live & tied duels.

L5R CCG Rules board, 30 March 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Suppose two unaligned personalities (neither or both of which are duelists) tie in a duel, Which player would get to decide who is saved by The Badgers Live? The active player, or the player who owns and resolved The Badgers Live?

Assuming both Unaligned Personalities (let's call them A and B) are non-Shadowlands and Human, and the duel's loser is destroyed, their destructions are simultaneous so the active player decides whether Reactions and traits triggered by A’s destruction (such as the delayed prevention effect from The Badgers Live) happen before or after Reactions and traits triggered by B’s destruction. See Timing: Resolving timing conflicts and Timing sequence.
