The Direct Approach Open: Give a target personality -1F for each of his key words other than Clan alignments. If his force is now 0, he may not perform actions.
The Eighth Legion 3F/0 3/3/-
Ignore this card's Honor Requirement if it is attaching to a Mantis Clan Personality. Battle/Open: Attach this card from your hand to your target Personality. Before this turn ends, if this card is in play, you may put it in your hand.
If I target a person with The Direct Approach and his force is 0 and he assigns to battle, can he attach The Eighth Legion by its own text? I thought that if a card said target Personality, then he would be performing that action.

I thought that if a card said target Personality, then he would be performing that action.
Only if the action targets the Personality in its constraints, which is after the first colon but before the second. Since there is no second colon on The Eighth Legion's action, it has no constraints, there for the attaching targeted Personality is not performing the action.
