Chi Penalties to a personality with 0 Chi

L5R CCG Rules board, 28 January 2010 to 29 January 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I was wondering about the following situation:

A personality receives a Chi penalty which drops his Chi to 0. The destruction of the personality is negated with an action of some sort (eg. Strength of the Bamboo). What happens to that personality if they recieve another Chi penalty in that turn? Do they die?

Too vague to answer. It depends on what kind of effect negates the Chi death. For example Strength of the Bamboo negates the destruction from an action's effects so it would not negate the destruction from other actions' effects that would give the Personality another Chi penalty, whereas The Last One would negate Chi death from all effects of other player's actions. For more information see the Chi death rule, Sources of effects and Duration and scope of prevention effects.
