Akozo Senzo and Swift Counterattack.

L5R CCG Rules board, 27 January 2010 to 28 January 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Is "additional action" synonymous with "another action"?

Here are the cards:

Akodo Senzo:

Battle: Target another Personality and choose one of his base abilities; he may use it a second time this turn. You may take another Battle action

Swift Counterattack:

Reaction: Before the resolution of a Battle action that was taken as an additional action: Its effects do not happen.

I ask because there are cards that use the specific wording of "additional action", such as Moto Yuudai (Experienced).

thanks, Andrew

Is "additional action" synonymous with "another action"?

The two words have different entries in the glossary:

http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_A#Additional http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_A#Another

But I'll check on its use in this context.

Additional: On this card, "another" is being used in its normal English meaning here, not as technically defined in the glossary. Don't extend this to other cards, though.

However, please quote the printed text when asking a question about a card. Online spoilers are not always accurate.

Senzo's ability's final line actually reads, "You may take an additional Battle action."
