Strike From the Shadows/Hasty Exit question

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 January 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

It's my understanding that if an action specifically targets one (or more) personalities, those personalities are performing said action.

Can you then perform a Hasty Exit as the first action played after a Strike From the Shadows (assuming all targets are legal targets of course?)

Dan Jacobson (rules official), 26 January 2010

Battle: Move one or more target unbowed Ninja Personalities with no non-Ninja Followers from the current battlefield to another battlefield.

Please read the FAQ on this matter.

Personalities and Followers perform actions printed on them, and actions where they are targeted between the two colons of an action. <---Only one colon in this action, so nope.

Actions on Items or Spells are performed by their Personality.<--Action on a Strategy card, also no

Nobody performs an action if it targets only as an effect (that is, isn't printed between two colons) or doesn't target.<---This looks like it.

Some actions are performed by multiple cards: either multiple Personalities, multiple Followers, or some combination of both Personalities and Followers.

No one is performing the action. Hasty Exit may not be used after Strike in Shadows
