This is the official thread for changes to the Comprehensive Rules that go beyond clarifications and affect existing rulings.
As of Jan 26, the Comprehensive Rules on negation have been rewritten. The two major changes are:
1. Negation now works almost exactly like "do not" prevention. Specifically, negation no longer ends the duration of ongoing effects, but suppresses them for the duration of the negation effect - which by default is until the end of the turn. This means, for example, that the permanent Force bonus given by Arrival of the Obsidian Champion, if negated by Justly Earned Victory, will reappear at the end of the turn.
2. Chi death can now be prevented by ongoing as well as continuous Chi penalty negation effects.
These changes streamline the negation rules considerably, making negation work much more like a normal effect, and bringing the Comprehensive Rules more into line with the basic rulebook. They also fulfill designer intent regarding interactions such as the one between Justly Earned Victory and Arrival of the Obsidian Champion.
Rules Team members will be updating and reversing any affected rulings threads over the coming week.
