Fu Leng's Guidance + Fu Leng's Guidance.

L5R CCG Rules board, 5 December 2009 to 6 December 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 5 December 2009

When a personality is destroyed, does the game keep track of whose personality it was, or does it just keep track that someone was destroyed?

For example:

Player A resolves an action that destroys Player B's personality. Player A uses Fu Leng's Guidance to bring that personality into play, etc. Can Player B use her Fu Leng's Guidance on the same personality at this point? It is now "another player's personality" because Player A controls it.

Also, since "Bring him into play" fails, the personality will not become controlled by Player B, correct?

The former.

(Aside: Most cards refer to ownership when something is out of play rather than control -- see http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Physically_mark ... rd_control and http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Physically_mark ... _ownership -- but that turns out not to matter in this particular case ).

No.

http://rules.l5r.com/Timing#Triggers.2C ... ering_play: "When a trigger is keyed to after a card enters or leaves play, and there is also a condition on the trigger, the condition refers back to the state of the card at the point just before the card left or entered play."

The Reaction on Fu Leng's Guidance is not legal for player B until the Personality dies again.

Moot question, due to above.
