A playgroup buddy was telling me that discarding a Bushido Virtue to a Paragon's ability that specifically requests Bushido Virtues is the same as targeting that Paragon with a Bushido Virtue thus fulfilling the requirements for Souls of Virtue. I.E. Mastu Yosa discards A Warrior's Patience to fire off a Ranged 4 attack and gain an honor. the opponent then bows Yosa. According to my friend the fact that Yosa used an effect that required the discarding of a Bushido Virtue card, it is then legal to play Souls of Virtue targeting her to straighten her and give her +3 F. Is this true? As I am the person playing the Lion deck in question, I am interested to have this clarified. Thanks.
Bushido VIrtues+Lion Paragons+Souls of Virtue

This is wrong.
Battle: Target your Paragon who has performed a Bushido Virtue or Dark Virtue action this turn: Give him +3F and straighten him.
A Paragon cannot be legally targeted by Souls of Virtue unless he has performed a Bushido Virtue (or Dark Virtue) action this turn. Per the glossary and the rules about keywords and abilities, to perform such an action, it must either be from a Bushido Virtue ability on the Paragon, or from a Bushido Virtue ability on an Item or Spell in the Paragon’s unit, or target the Paragon by targeting in the base wording of the Bushido Virtue ability’s constraints block. To discard a Bushido Virtue card as a cost of an action without these keywords matches none of these conditions. As a consequence, if you discard A Warrior’s Patience as a cost of Matsu Yosa's second Battle action, Yosa is not performing a Bushido Virtue action so this does not make her a legal target for Souls of Virtue.
