Naval Reaction - What does performed by mean?

L5R CCG Rules board, 5 October 2009 to 6 October 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

From the Comprehensive Rules: The Naval keyword is found on those Personalities and Followers who have the skill and equipment to navigate Rokugan’s waterways and seas. It is relevant to the player Reaction that is performed by a Naval Personality.

From Player Abilities: Reaction: After engaging, once per battle, if you are the Attacker and your current army has more Naval cards than the side opposing it, target your Naval Personality: You have the first opportunity to take a Battle action, which must be performed by the targeted Personality.

So my question is, what is considered a performed action? Will Aggressive Landing (Battle: Target Your Naval Personality. Give him +1F. you may take an additional Battle Action.) count? Or Border Ambush (Battle: Dishonor your target personality: Give each of your personalities and followers at this battlefield +1F or +2f if they are opposed.)? Or does it refer only to actions printed on the characters themselves and actions they gain from equipment?
