If I use Deployed Reinforcements to move in Akodo Nagataka, will he be destroyed by his trait or will its trigger have passed? Does who is the active player have any effect on it?
Akodo Nagataka and Deployed Reinforcements
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
If I use Deployed Reinforcements to move in Akodo Nagataka, will he be destroyed by his trait or will its trigger have passed? Does who is the active player have any effect on it?
Delayed effects and triggered traits have the same timing, so active player picks. http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Timing#Timing_sequence
Regarding this: IMHO, Nagataka would have to die nevertheless.
Before a battle's resolution, if Nagataka is at the current battlefield: Destroy him. (emphasis added)
The active player can't choose to activate the triggered trait if he's at home, due to the condition. So there's no way of using the trait before moving Nagataka into the battle.
So if Nagataka is at home, you have to apply the delayed effect from the terrain before Nagataka's trait can trigger, then he moves, then the trait triggers (because now the condition is met and the timing window is still open for triggered effects not from reactions)
(OR, you can choose not to move him and have him live one more turn )

Just confirming that looks correct. Thanks for the addition.
