Houhou

L5R CCG Rules board, 23 August 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

This may have (likely was) already covered, but 15 minutes of searching has not found it, so I will ask here;

Do permanent stat bonuses and negatives remain on personalities after they die?

Specifically... If I use a card to permanently set Houhou's force to some number (say, 7), and then at the end of the turn, Houhou dies... When I bring him back into play on my next limited phase, is his force 7? Or is it 2 again? etc.

I understand that "Permanently set a target personality's force to 7" actually means "Give a personality a penalty or bonus to his force so that it is 7" and thus, if Houhou's strength is 2, and that card is played it becomes a permanent +5 bonus, or if it force is -6, and that card is played, he gains a permanent +13 bonus to his force... But do permanent card effects actually survive death?

They did in Samurai, but do they in Celestial?

Sorry if this has been answered 100 times.

Yes.

Yes. Aside: Houhou is a female (cf. card text: "She rises from the ashes. Bring her into play").

You must have missed "Ritual of Summoning - Redux" where you can read this.

Yes.
