I know for a range attack to be considered successful it has to "kill" it's target, but if I produce a range 2 attack from Shiro Daidoji that doesn't kill someone, is the action now successful because I gained 2 honor?

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Yes, the action would be successful.
"Success" occurs if at least some of an action's effects produce a change in game state, not necessarily ALL of its effects.
