A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

i searched the forum and could not find anything on this. if i have a non-cavalry follower on one of my cavalry personalities and a cavalry personality at the same battlefield could i use versatile army to bow/straighten someone without having to pay the 3 gold? or would i still have to pay the 3 gold because the cavalry personality w/ the non-cavalry follower still has the cavalry keyword?
Versatile Army Battle: Pay 3 Gold unless you control both an Infantry unit and a Cavalry unit at the current battlefield: Straighten or bow a target Personality.

Yes. It looks for the status of the unit, not just the Personality. And a unit is Cavalry if and only if all cards in the unit are Cavalry. (Typo fixed.)

I'm pretty confident that Zen just mistyped in his explanation of unit definition. Could you clear this up for everyone please?
