If I control a dishonorable personality in a duel and focus a Hamstrung, can I gain honor from the Hamstrung or just rehonor my personality from it?
Rehonoring/Hamstrung
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
If you choose to use Hamstrung's Focus Effect to gain Honor, this will not rehonor your Personality involved in the duel because it does not meet any condition to rehonor him (see below).
Physically marked card states, Honorable and dishonorable: There are a number of ways to rehonor a dishonorable Personality. * Before a player gains Honor from an action or trait that targeted, came from, or was performed by one or more of his or her dishonorable Personalities, the Personality is rehonored and the Honor is not gained. * Before a player gains Honor from attaching a card to one of his or her dishonorable Personalities, the Personality is rehonored and the Honor is not gained. * Before a player with one or more dishonorable Personalities in his or her army gains Honor from allying with that army (see Invite Allies) or from destroying opposing cards in battle resolution, all such dishonorable Personalities are rehonored and the Honor is not gained. In a tied battle, all dishonorable Personalities in an army are rehonored before being destroyed, and their army’s leader gains no Honor.
I focus a Hamstrung with a dishonored personality, then activates its effect.
Does my personality gain this honor, or do I? Can I rehonor him if I wish?
If in the case he is rehonored by the Hamstrung, could I then gain honor from the duel itself?

Hamstrung reads: Focus Effect: Lower this card's Focus Value by an amount from 0 to 4: Gain Honor equal to the amount it was lowered by.
Honourable and Dishonourable includes: There are a number of ways to rehonor a dishonorable Personality. * Before a player gains Honor from an action or trait that targeted, came from, or was performed by one or more of his or her dishonorable Personalities, the Personality is rehonored and the player does not gain the Honor. * Before a player gains Honor from attaching a card ... * Before a player with one or more dishonorable Personalities in his or her army ...
The second and third of these clearly aren't relevant. For first one, you're gaining honour from a Focus Effect, ie, from a trait on a Strategy card. It's not Performed (only actions are Performed), and it doesn't target your Personality, so this doesn't apply: you gain the honour as normal from Hamstrung and the Personality is not rehonoured.
