Ambush and Bayushi Jutsushi

L5R CCG Rules board, 16 July 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I saw this post regarding Bayushi Saya and Ambush.

However, Bayushi Jutsushi is worded differently than Bayushi Saya, notably the part about assigning the targeted personality. Saya says "next time this turn his controller assigns him", Jutsushi just says "next time the Personality's unit assigns"

For clarification, does this mean that if Jutsushi targets an opponents personality, then I target that personality with Ambush, he will be dishonored (and lose 2 honor)?

Ambush Limited: Target one of your unbowed Personalities: Create a battlefield (not at any province). Assign your Personality to attack there. Assign another player’s target Personality to defend there, even if bowed. No other units may move there. Fight a battle there. After it ends, lose 5 Honor.

Bayushi Saya Political Open: Target a Personality. After the next time this turn his controller assigns him or an action resolves that he performed, his controller loses Honor equal to his Personal Honor, then he is dishonored.

Bayushi Jutsushi Political Open: Target a Personality with Personal Honor lower than Jutsushi's Chi. After the next time the Personality's unit assigns this turn, dishonor him, and his controller loses 2 Honor.

.

This is correct. Jutsushi does not state that it matters what player assigns that unit, just that if it assigns, the unit's Personality is dishonored and his controller loses 2 honor.
