Control

L5R CCG Rules board, 1 July 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

My search-fu is broken or none has asked this before, but, if I have my Scorpion Generic Samurai unbowed, say, Eisaku, and target him for Control. The choice for Control is my opponent's Daidoji Kikaze.

After a while, he bows my Eisaku, but Kikaze is still bowed. I use Unwavering to straighten Eisaku.

Question: At his next straighten phase, does Kikaze straighten, since he has bowed once? Or does the Control still applies, as Eisaku is unbowed?

You must have missed this question: "Control".

Control's effect ends whenever your Eisaku bows or leaves play (see below, emphasis mine) and does not reassert itself when he straightens later. Kikaze straightens during his controller's next Straighten Phase.

Glossary, Remain: A duration that lasts while something “remains” in a given state ends whenever the thing is no longer in that state.
