A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Red Leaf Cut reads: Reaction: Before Focus Effects resolve: Discard a focused card; its owner may focus an additional card from his hand or focus pool.
Rules Wiki: Once per duel, each player may focus a card from his or her hand instead of focus pool.
1) Does Red Leaf Cut over-ride rulebook limit of focusing once per from hand per duel? 2) If so, if there is a focus pool remaining, would they have to focus from there first?

No. It says "or."
