Daigotsu Shiraki's Battle Action:Fear Battle: Show a Dark Virtue card in your hand: Ranged Attack with strength equal to the card's Focus Value plus one.
Determination reads: Dark Virtue Reaction: After you announce an action, target one of your Samurai: The action cannot have its effects negated or have its targeting changed. After the action destroys any Personality, remove him from the game.
Does the new wording on Determination allow Shiraki to show a Determination to pay the cost of her Battle ability and then play that same Determination for its own effects?

No.
Order of an action:
Announce action.
<-- Trigger for Determination goes here.
Target.
Pay costs. <-- Shiraki's cost of showing a Dark Virtue goes here -- oops, it's in the discard pile.

Shiraki doesn't discard the Dark Virtue, only shows it. Does this change your answer?

Shiraki doesn't discard the Dark Virtue, only shows it.
The question was about using the same Determination for (a) its own action and (b) to pay the cost of another action. The former comes first and discards Determination, before it can be used for the latter.
Does this change your answer?
It made it longer.
