Multiple Triggers on Assignment + Fusami

L5R CCG Rules board, 25 January 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. A player, 25 January 2009

Greetings! Player A has Fusami in play Player B controls a Crane Clan daimyo and 2 other personalities and a seat of power. Player B assigns to attack with all of his personalities at one of player A's Province Player A uses Fusami's reactions to duel the Crane clan daimyo. Can player B use Seat of power to redirect Fusami's duel to one of his other personalities?

I ask this because i am wondering where the assignment of player B can be broken down to the assignment of each Unit. I.e. I pass to the trigger of the other units first, then react with Fusami's Ability on the crane clan daimyo. I guess the real question is.. are there multiple triggers when assigning? Or do they just all happen at the same time.

What if the player moves several units at the same time (i.e. Two Front war), can he redirect Fusami's reaction to a different personality?

Thanks.

I guess the real question is.. are there multiple triggers when assigning? Or do they just all happen at the same time[?]

Well, the answer to both of those is "yes".

But, as to whether Fusami's targeting can be changed via Seat of Power, the answer is "no".

"Wha...?" you may be asking. Okay:

Fusami's Reaction has only one legal target, because it is taken during one specific round of Reactions, related to that legal target's assignment or movement. The fact that several assignments or movements happen simultaneously does not change the fact that their respective rounds of Reactions are not merged but sequential.

http://rules.l5r.com/Timing#Resolving_timing_conflicts: "If the order of simultaneous triggers to an occurrence needs to be determined, the active player determines their order. Example: Two personalities destroyed simultaneously in battle resolution, A and B, each have a Reaction or trait that trigger before they are destroyed. The active player decides whether Reactions and traits triggered by A’s destruction happen before or after Reactions and traits triggered by B’s destruction."
