With regards to the following: Rules post on Unwanted Mediation and Arranged Marriage
Can the decision to define "different" in rulings be explained? I find the current (and seemingly arbitrary) definition of "different" to be totally counter-intuitive. It seems fairly simple to imagine that ten people, randomly sampled, when asked if there is anything "different" about two objects, one described as "Crane" and "Scorpion" and the other merely as "Crane," would return a significant result of those who said the two were, in fact, "different."
Again, this is less a specific question about the cards in the above linked example and more of a direct questioning of the decision to define "different" in such a way that two things which are clearly "different" are suddenly the "same."
To try to make this as clear as possible: Why does "different" ignore the fact that a Clan-aligned Personality also has a different (English word, not game term) Clan alignment on it after Arranged Marriage is used?
Additionally, I feel that the use of Righteous Doshin as a counter-example was apropos, and Zen's reason for rejecting more or less proved the point. Zen is correct in noting that Righteous Doshin has different wording, but that was the original poster's point. I don't see why it is any kind of stretch of reason to note that if Unwanted Mediation was supposed to make that distinction that it would be worded as Righteous Doshin is.
