Movement negation from continuous effects.

L5R CCG Rules board, 3 January 2009 to 5 January 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 3 January 2009

May I play a card that negates movement if that movement is already being negated by another card in play?

Example:

I am attacking, I have 1 unit at province A, and 1 unit at home. I play Blanketed Forest at Province A. I attempt to move my unit from home to Province A.

May I play Hamstrung?

Does the answer change is the movement simply doesn't happen, as would be the case in the same example above, and the unit at home has already been in the resolution of a battle on the attacking side?

thanks, Andrew

This will be clarified further soon, but for now, in this case,

Blanketed Forest's effect occurs before any reactions can be played.

Hamstrung wold not be a legal play in this case.
