Unpleasant Discovery Question

L5R CCG Rules board, 16 December 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Unpleasant Discovery

Battle: Target your unbowed opposed Magistrate, and bow him if he is not Dragon Clan: Look at the top five cards of your deck. You may put two of them in your hand. Put the rest on top of the deck in any order.

My question is, can I look at the top five cards of my Dynasty Deck? I am aware that Dynasty cards can never go to your hand, so I assume the "put two of them" would fail. But would I be able to put the rest back in any order?

For this card, and this card only, the reference to deck means Fate deck.

You may not look at your Dynasty deck with this card.
