I am unclear about how this changes things. If I play a Hired Killer, and my opponent changes my targetting to a a) more expensive unit or b) less expensive unit, what happens under this errata?
Payment errata
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

As stated, it's treat the same way as if cost payment was interfered with. It's immediately above the new section in the wiki (http://rules.l5r.com/Costs_and_restrict ... tory_costs).
"If, due to interference from other effects, a mandatory cost cannot be paid at the point when it must be paid:
"No remaining costs need be paid, but costs already paid are not refunded.
"No effects of the action or trait resolve, and the ability or trait is considered to have been “used.”
"If the cost was for a card to enter play, it is discarded."
Actually, I see a similar list at http://rules.l5r.com/Abilities_and_actions#C._Pay_costs. We'll be checking those to make sure the two are exactly parallel, so don't be surprised if one or the other has changed a little by the time you read it.
