Two minor errata, one ruling

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 November 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Zen Faulkes (rules official), 24 November 2008

The Rules Team is issuing some minor technical errata to tide over to the start of Celestial Edition, and clarifying one rule.

Determination

Now reads, "Determination 0G 4FV Dark Virtue Reaction: After you announce an action, target one of your Samurai: The action cannot have its effects negated or have its targeting changed. After the action destroys any Personality, remove him from the game."

This changes the timing of Determination very slightly -- from before announcement of an action to after. The functionality of the card remains the same in the vast majority of cases, but removes strange timing originating from the Reaction of Determination coming "pre-emptively" before the action it responds to. In particular, this cleans up Reactions to Determination and possible interactions with the action that triggered Determination in the first place.

Isawa Itsuoko

The ability should refer to "Itsuoko," not "Itsuoto."

Payments

The following is being added to the Comprehensive Rules (http://rules.l5r.com/Costs_and_restrict ... tory_costs):

"Sometimes an action, trait or card has a mandatory variable cost, which depends on an element of the game that another players' effect interferes with at some point between announcement and the point when the cost is paid.<br> "Example: A Gold cost depends on the total Gold cost of a target unit. After announcement but before costs are paid, a card is added to the unit or the targeting of the unit is changed.

"When such a basis for a variable cost changes due to interference, this is treated the same way as interference with the payment of the cost."
