My opponent is playing out of EHP. His naval action, he will equip a Brothers In Arms, so he can then take an additional action.
Now an opponent I played in a tournament said there'd been a ruling that the act of equipping was what reinforce the gate would cancel. Therefore I had to play it when he announced he would be equipping something, rather than as he tried to equip it. Supposedly this meant that if I were to Reinforce, I would never see what he was equipping, and all cards would remain in his hand.
I argued that he couldn't announce an equip action unless he was actually trying to equip something, in which case surely it would have to be revealed as he announced that he would equip it?
Anyway, neither of us were going through, so I didn't bother calling a judge, but I'd like to get this ruling clarified please.
Cheers in advance!

My opponent is playing out of EHP.
Enemy Helicopter Pad? Elephant House Parkade? Early Horse Power? I literally do not know what you are referring to.
Mod reminder: Please do not use abbreviations, acronyms, or nicknames when asking questions. It is confusing to new and experienced players alike.
Thanks!

Well for some reason I can't reply in my thread. Anyway - EHP was abbreviation for Eastern Hub Port. The question here is not quite concerning that however, more concerning whether Reinforce the gates forces him to discard or at least reveal his follower when he tries to attacch it as a naval action, or whether he simply "declares an attachment" action without revealing what it is.

I've noticed you remarking in this post on some difficulty you were having related to posting in this forum. I feel that this sticky at the top (here) could be of some help.
As to your specific question, I found it already answered here.

In response to http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=919985#p919985 , which linked to Marty's answer of
"The card is not discarded. It never leaves wherever it was going to come from. No effect happened to affect it.
He announces he is going to use the Equip Action as a Battle Action. You play Reinforce the Gates. He targets a personality. He pays no costs for the Equip action (it has no costs). He resolves no Effects (they were Negated). The Action ends."

Fair enough. Tangentially, does the attachment that the opponent was trying to Equip get revealed, or are you negating the action before he ever has to reveal the attaching item?
From Marty's answer, it seems as though it's never revealed, but I wished to be sure.

That's correct.
Now, tournament Floor Rules are beyond my scope, but I'm going to pre-emptively editorialize here:
If you are at a sanctioned event, and you feel your opponent may have illegally announced the Equip action with the sole intent of tricking you into wasting your Reinforce the Gates on it, you may call a judge to verify that he announced it legally.
