Daigotsu Sahara and Daigotsu Ryudo

L5R CCG Rules board, 4 July 2008 to 5 July 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

The Sahara ability states "Ryudo uses his base Force as his duel stat."

a: Is there no errata on this? b. If I attach a +3+1 weapon on him, would that add +3, or +1, or neither on his duel stat? c. How would Asahina Sekawa exp 2 deal with this?

Thanks!

Firstly, that's a trait, not an ability. Abilities are preceded by one of the action designators: Limited, Open, Battle or Reaction.

a. l5rsearch.com is not definitive. In this case, the text and images for Daigotsu Sahara and Daigotsu Ryudo are mixed up.

b. Ryudo's base force is always 5, regardless of what items he has attached. Force bonuses and penalties - from any source - only affect current Force, not base Force.

c. Ryudo doesn't change the duel to one of Force. He uses his base Force as his duel stat, even in a duel of Force or Personal Honour.

Regarding this post: http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=69217 Not complaining or asking for clarifications about the rulings themselves, but AkodoGilador accidentally got the names mixed up. Daigotsu Sahara is the 5/3 who uses his Base Force in a duel, and Diagotsu Ryudo is the 4/3 who keeps opposing attachments from bowing to pay costs.
