Targeting a unit/Targeting a personality

L5R CCG Rules board, 3 July 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Is targeting a unit the same as targeting a personality while in battle?

For example, can you use Final Sacrifice to redirect Rewards of Experience?

Type Action Title Rewards of Experience Rarity Rare Edition Words and Deeds [ View Printings ] Text Battle: Target your unbowed Samurai Personality: Bow a target enemy unit with lower Force than your Samurai's Force. While your Samurai remains unbowed and at the current battlefield, negate the straightening of any cards in the enemy unit.

Type Action Title Final Sacrifice Rarity Uncommon Edition Words and Deeds [ View Printings ] Text Reaction: When an action would target a Personality you control, target your Yojimbo: The action targets him instead, if legal.

Thanks,

-Steven

"While in battle" doesn't matter, because the rule is the same at all times.

http://rules.l5r.com/Glossary_U#Unit: "Targeting a unit is the same as targeting its Personality."
