The New Naval

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 June 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

In regards to the Naval update found here:

viewtopic.php?f=59&t=69104

So, if I'm reading this correctly the only change is that the Naval personality is performing the Naval reaction, right? (The change obviously being made for Misdirection.)

So, does that mean if I Naval and Michio (Exp) is in play, he can bow me just for declaring Naval -- before I even take my naval action? Also, if my opponent played An Act of Disdain on my personality, he would first gain 3 honor if I assign, 3 more if I declare the Naval reaction with my targeted personality, and 3 more for the actual performed 1st action?

Not complaining, just gotta know what the new things to watch out for are.

Thanks!!!

The only change in the text of the Naval ability is that the Naval Personality is targeted in the constraints block instead of the effects block, which implies that she performs this Reaction indeed, with all consequences of performing. For example Misdirection no longer enables its player to decide which Naval Personality (or one of her Naval Followers) will perform a Battle action thanks to the first opportunity to take one or pass.

Yes.

Correct, assuming you assigned your Personality targeted by An Act of Disdain. Remember the Naval Reaction can still target any Naval Personality you control, even if she is not at the current battlefield. For instance you can target your Yoritomo Kurei at home with the Naval Reaction in order to use his own ability to move him to the current battlefield; this would make your opponent gain 3 less Honor because you didn't assign Kurei.
