Kensai's Blade

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 June 2008 to 25 June 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I was looking at the glossary term for engage and it says "when the battle begins". So I was wondering: since Kensai's Blade has a Reaction it ignores the rule of location. If I have 1 Personality at provinces A, B, C, D and if as the Attacker I decided to fight battle A first, upon the engaging at battle A I can attach a Kensai's Blade to any Personality at province B, C, or D. Right?

[Mod edit : corrected syntax; please avoid abbreviations such as "prov" for province or "person" for Personality - LH]

Yes, per Combat Segment: "During the Combat Segment, [...] Reactions are not subject to rules of Presence and Location."

If I have 1 Personality at provinces A, B, C, D and if as the Attacker I decided to fight battle A first, upon the engaging at battle A I can attach a Kensai's Blade [thanks to its own Reaction] to any Personality at province B, C, or D. Right?

Right. Assuming you can pay all costs, Kensai's Blade's action lets you attach this card to any Personality whom you control at any location in play.
