If I play Superior Strategist to get Stay Your Blade, which happens first,
the Battle action from Stay Your Blade or the shuffling of my fate deck because I searched for a card?
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

The Battle action granted by Superior Strategist is an additional action:
"2. Some effects grant an “additional” action of a given type (usually Battle, Open or Limited). A granted additional action does not count against the normal sequence of actions in the current segment or phase; for example, an additional Battle action is taken without waiting for, or expending, the next normal chance to take a Battle action. When an action or triggered trait grants an additional action, the timing of the additional action is delayed, such that the action is taken once the action or trait that granted it has ended, and the opportunity to play Reactions to the end of the action or trait has passed. This makes sure that Battle actions can not occur within other Battle actions, and so on. [CLARIFIED June 3 2008] " (Emphasis added.)
You finish playing Superior Strategist, including shuffling the deck, and then play Stay Your Blade.
