One of my players today queried if the strike chain (stirke the summit, strike the centre and strike the base) can be played unopposed.
As there is no targeting of opposing or opposed personailites I assume you can.
Obviously the purpose of this is to play the ring of air.
Can anyone give clarity of this.

There is no card named "strike chain". Perhaps you are thinking of different cards with "Strike" in their title... Then it is time for a:

Strike the Summit: "Kiho Battle: Bow one of your Rings and target one of your unbowed Monks: Move home a target Personality opposing him. Bow the Personality if he moved. You may discard a card; if you do, search your deck for a Strike the Center, show it, and put it in your hand."
Strike the Centre: "Kiho Reaction: After you resolve a Strike the Summit, target the Monk who performed it: Bow a target unit opposing him. You may search your deck for a Strike the Base, show it, and put it in your hand. "Kiho Battle: Bow one of your Rings and one of your target Monks: Bow a target unit opposing him with less Force."
Strike the Base: "Kiho Reaction: After you resolve a Strike the Center, bow the target Monk who performed it: Destroy a target Follower or Personality without Followers opposing him. "Kiho Battle: Bow one of your Rings and one of your target Monks: Ranged Attack with a strength equal to his Chi."
The text I've emphasized is all Required Targeting. You cannot use any of these abilities unopposed.
