I'm not sure if the current scenario is possible for the current environment, as I don't know all the Words & Deeds cards yet, but there's a scenario that at least works in the Legacy format.
The relevant cards are Daigotsu Kanpeki (Holding)
and any card that gains control of another player's holding. To illustrate my point, I'm picking Yoritomo Buntaro (Personality)
My question now is: When a player gains control of Kanpeki through whatever means, e.g. through Buntaro, is he or she allowed, even when knowing that the search must fail, to use the ability up for my opponent no longer to be able to use it once the holding returns to his control? Or would the ability not used up for my opponent, as the text reads "your Dynasty deck and discard pile" with "your" being a deictic word and when player A gains control of Kanpeki to search his Dynasty deck and discard pile, player B could still search his own ones, as they have not yet been searched?
I understand that searching for a card you know you don't have in your deck is a violation of the Spirit of the Good Faith Rule, but could Kanpeki's ability in the above scenario be used once per player or only once by the player who uses it first, regardless of him or her having Daigotsu or Kayomasa in the deck?

When a player gains control of (Daigotsu) Kanpeki(...)is he or she allowed(...) to use the ability(?)
Yes.
"Your" refers to the controller (http://rules.l5r.com/Glossary_X-Z).
http://rules.l5r.com/Abilities_and_acti ... Faith_Rule: "A player is not assumed to have complete knowledge of the face-down contents of his or her decks, for purposes of the Good Faith Rule."

This is a follow-up question regarding my post about Daigotsu Kanpeki (here), which was poorly worded and hence confusing.
If there is a card that has an ability that e.g. reads "Once per game: Search your Dynasty deck[...]" (like Daigotsu Kanpeki with regards to the search for Daigotsu or Kayomasa) and this cards temporarily changes control until the end of turn, does once per game mean once per game or does it rather mean once per game per player/controller?

"Once per game/turn/battle" is a total, not a per-player limit. If a player uses the ability on a copy of Daigotsu Kanpeki, no other player can use the ability on that copy of Daigotsu Kanpeki for the rest of the game (unless the usage is "forgotten" because the card has become face down and out of play).
