Can I play Courtesy targeting my Mantis Detachment and a target Personality opposing him?
Would that move my opponent Personality home and make me gain some honor while my Personality stays in the battle and my opponent gains no honor?

Can I play Courtesy targeting my Mantis Detachment and a target Personality opposing him?
No. Courtesy must be performed by "one of your unbowed honorable Samurai" (card text). Followers are neither honorable nor dishonorable.
Glossary, Honorable: "Refers to a Personality (and no other type of card) who is not in a dishonorable state."
