A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If Sozen is challenged to a duel via an action, which had Determination played on it (with it?), does his trait negate the death if he loses the duel, or does Determination allow the action created duel to kill him?
Example.
Player A challenges Player B's Sozen with First and Final Strike, and Plays Determination on the First and Final Strike.
I suspect I know how it would play out, but I was hoping for confirmation.

The latter.

Nothing special about duels in that regard.
