Overlaying.

L5R CCG Rules board, 1 May 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

So my question involves Oni no Akuma exp1 and exp2. Exp1 destroys a province as a come into play effect. Now, if I overlay exp2(which also eats a province and a come into play effect) what happens? I remember reading a post somewhere that overlaying doesn't trigger come into play effects, is this true?

Not much.

http://rules.l5r.com/Physically_marked_ ... Overlaying: "(A)n overlaying card is not entering play even if it comes from an out-of-play area(.)" Thus, entering play effects (like Province destruction) do not occur.
