Togashi Kisu and Peaceful Discourse

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 March 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

My opponent has a dishonored personality with 2 printed personal honor. I use 3 Togashi Kisu to give him +3 personal honor. I then use Peaceful Discourse.

How much honor do I gain? Is it 3 or 6?

Thanks,

-Steve

Dishonorable Personalities have a maximum Personal Honor of zero.

Maximum and minimum values do not Negate any Effects that try to raise a stat above a Maximum or lower it beyond a Minimum (though it does make it impossible to pay a cost that requires you to violate a Maximum or Minimum). Rather, they impose the Maximum or Minimum value instead of the calculated value of a stat.

So, while he was Dishonored, the Personality had the +1PH bonus effects on him, but the Maximum value made you treat his stat as 0. When the Maximum value went away (due to being restored to Honorable status), the bonuses were still in effect, so he had 5 Personal Honor.
