Kyuden Ashinagabachi against Justly Earned Victory

L5R CCG Rules board, 17 February 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Alright, first time posting a rules question... a forum search, as far as I can tell, didn't answer this question.

If I'm using Kyuden Ashinagabachi, and have reduced my opponent's personalities' Force by making Ranged Attacks that didn't kill them, could he use Justly Earned Victory's second action to negate those penalties? Mostly I'm not sure if the penalties are considered to come from the Ranged Attacks (And thus Justly Earned Victory would indeed negate them) or if it comes from the Stronghold's trait. Thanks in advance!

If those Ranged Attacks were the effect of actions (Limited, Open, Battle, Reaction), yes.

From here.

I don't believe the above answer is correct.

The Force penalty comes from the Stronghold's trait, not the Ranged Attack action, doesn't it?

And Justly Earned Victory only negates penalties from actions.

Thanks for the catch.
