Tsuruchi Etsui experienced

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 December 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If Tsuruchi Etsui experienced is taken out of play (being destroyed, for example) and then he is returned to play (Soul Jar, Death after Life for example), does his restricting trait (target cannot assign or move) resume taking effect?

With the presumption that the answer to the above question is "yes", if Tsuruchi Etsui experienced is both out of play and face-down (Misdirection focused in a duel for example), then he is returned to play, does his trait resume the prior effect if the target is still in play?

Would he then be able to choose an additional target for his trait?

As it uses "unless" rather than "until," it appears so.

(I)f Tsuruchi Etsui experienced is both out of play and face-down (Misdirection focused in a duel for example), then he is returned to play, does his trait resume the prior effect if the target is still in play?

No, due to tracking rule. http://rules.l5r.com/Effects#Tracking_rule

Would he then be able to choose an additional target for his trait?

Yes.
