Lies, lies, lies... and coward!

L5R CCG Rules board, 27 November 2007 to 29 November 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

since I can target myself with "Coward!", can I play "lies, lies, lies..." while I have a "coward!" in the discard pile?

Maybe overlooking something obvious, but in looking through the rules wiki, particularly http://rules.l5r.com/Effects#Choices, but I can't find any current rule that a card with honor loss as an optional or conditional effect is considered a card that causes an honor loss. So the following is tentative.

There are three answers to the question, "Does this card cause an honor loss?": Yes, no, and maybe. Lies, Lies, Lies... looks for cards where the answer is "Yes." Conditional or optional effects give an answer of "Maybe," so Lies, Lies, Lies... ignores them.

More news on the above.

"A card that causes an Honor loss" will include costs and effects of actions printed on the card.

Stay tuned.

And one last clarification: The Honor losses have to be unconditional (i.e., not dependent on a player choice or outcome of an action, etc.).
