Test of the emerald champion

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 November 2007 to 28 November 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 24 November 2007

Am I correct in saying that if someone refuses the duel (player B), or if no legal targets are available (such as the other player having no personalities) that player A may remove his personality from the game and gain the extra province because he never lost a duel because there were none.

Test of the emerald champion Text Target one of your Personalities. Each other player, in turn order, may target one of his Personalities; your Personality challenges each of them immediately after they are targeted. Each duel’s winner gains 3 Honor; destroy the loser. If you lost none of these duels, remove your Personality from the game and gain a Province to the left of your leftmost Province.

Thanks

No. "These duels" means there must be a duel to gain the benefit. (Additional: thinking on this. See viewtopic.php?f=59&t=63607)

(This is different than earlier versions of the card, which required the Personality to survive.)

Correction / reversal. "These duels" is not to be taken to imply that duels must occur. If there are none, you gain the benefit.
