Immobile Stance: Battle: Target one of your Personalities: Until the battle ends, he has +5F while opposed. While he is at the current battlefield and the enemy side has more units than yours, cards' effects can not destroy him. If you would win a battle as Attacker or Defender while he is there, it is a tie instead.

Does it Cause a Tie in a battle if no units are opposing? Examples:

I send 4F Hida Kaoru to attack, they don't defend. I play Immobile stance then harpoon their Champion in to kill with Seventh Tower. Once their big guy's dead, Kaoru is unopposed again. Would I tie at the end of battle and lose Kaoru?

Second Example: I'm Defending with my 1F Doji Whoever against a 9F army of 2 units. I drop 2 Immobile Stances and jump to 11F. They Stay their Blades and Weight the Cost, thus removing my opposition. Same effect?

If the winning army;s total is not zero, yes. http://rules.l5r.com/Battles#Resolution_Segment: "Whichever army has the most Force wins (see Force total). A side with no units has zero force for purposes of this comparison, and does not count as an army for effects that alter the force of an 'army'."
