Triumph of Courage 5

L5R CCG Rules board, 13 November 2007 to 19 November 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Here, Marty says that Triumph's ongoing effect is to create "new" effects each time it's "triggered", thus an out-of-play card could not receive the bonus from the "new effects".

I don't understand how these "new, triggered" effects are any different from any other delayed effect which WOULD affect an out-of-play card as ruled here. I don't see where it can be gathered from the rules that a delayed effect triggered by an ongoing effect means that it's a "new, child" effect of the effect that created it. ALL delayed effects are the result of an ongoing effect, aren't they? If they were instantaneous or continuous, they wouldn't be delayed in the first place.

Please, could a reversal be considered, or at least a clarification be made on this ruling to help bridge the gap in my understanding?

This is under discussion, just FYI.
