Immobile Stance and Chi Death

L5R CCG Rules board, 10 October 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

According to the 2nd exception for the Source of Effects: A Personality’s destruction for having 0 Chi comes from the effect that last gave the Personality a Chi penalty, or from the rulebook if there was no such effect.

Now Immobile Stance says: Battle: Target one of your Personalities: Until the battle ends, he has +5F while opposed. While he is at the current battlefield and the enemy side has more units than yours, cards' effects can not destroy him. If you would win a battle as Attacker or Defender while he is there, it is a tie instead.

So would a personality targeted by Immobile Stance be immune to chi death as long as the opponent had more units in his army and the chi penalty came from a card effect?
