High, this came up in a game tonight, and I was wondering if anyone had an answer. I already looked in the forum, and the comprehensive rules and didn't find anything that I thought fit, anyway. Here is the situation.
It's the dynasty phase, I have a Shinsei's Last Hope and a Supply Outpost in play. A personality in a province, a random 4 cost follower in my hand, and sufficient gold to pay for the personality. The question is, if I pay for the personality using the Supply Outpost when am I paying for the follower? In other words, can I use the Shinsei's Last Hope to reduce the cost to 2 and then claim the 3 gold reduction from Supply outpost, or does the Supply Outpost reduction happen first requiring the bowing of an additional holding to finish paying the cost of the follower?
I think the Shinsei's last Hope reduction can be applied first based on the following from the comprehensive rules covering costs.
Changed costs: A substitution of a cost or a change in the numerical value of a cost, in the context of playing a card or taking an action, applies only to the time the cost is paid.
and
Gold production effects from multiple sources to pay a single cost happen in an order chosen by the player paying the cost. In an exception to the normal timing rules on triggered occurrences, no distinction is made between rulebook effects, triggered traits, and Reactions with a trigger such as “When paying a Gold cost.” These Gold sources can be activated in any order desired when paying a single cost. [CHANGED from simultaneous production, Sept 13 2007]
I just want to make sure I am not missing something obvious because this seems quite good.
