Corrupt vs. Tainted vs. Pure

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 September 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

What exactly factors into these win types? Shinzo's betrayal was a result of a lot of people playing Corrupt decks, but what exactly does that *mean*? Does the inclusion of just one Shadowlands card make it corrupt? What about a Black Scroll or Maho spell without the Shadowlands trait or a Black Scroll-related effect like Blasted Lands? What about someone with the Shadowlands trait that isn't aligned to the Spider/Shadowlands i.e. Mirumoto Taishuu or a Damned Crab?

Any help would be appreciated.

There is currently no official criteria that designates a deck as "pure" or "tainted" or "corrupt."

Play your deck at your own risk.
